Rajinikanth's Baashha, which is considered to be an iconic film in the superstar's career, is all set to be digitally remastered.

The Tamil film will be screened in December this year, a whopping 21 years after it first impressed viewers in 1995. According to reports, filmmaker RM Veerappan is planning to release the digitally-remastered version of Baashha on 12 December 2016 - the occasion of the Thalaivar's 66th birthday.

Baashha featured Rajinikanth in the role of an auto-rickshaw driver named Manikkam who goes on to become a gangster called Manik Baashha. The Suresh Krrisna-directorial impressed both the Box Office and the critics and went on to become one of the biggest hits of the years. Besides Rajinikanth's performance, the film also won acclaim for Deva's music - which gave us chartbusters like Naan Autokaaran, Style Style Thaan and Azhagu Azhagu.

The film, which also starred Nagma and Raghuvaran, minted Rs 25 crore at the end of its theatrical run - a commendable feat at the time.

The digitally-remastered version is bound to be the perfect birthday gift for the thousands of Rajinikanth fans around the world.
