Rajinikanth is not a part of the remake of Mammootty's Bhaskar: The Rascal

Director Siddique sent the Tamil film industry into a frenzy when told a Malayalam daily that Thalaiva Rajnkikanth would star in the Tamil remake, of the Malayalam film, Bhaskar: The Rascal, starring Mammootty and Nayantara - which was one of the highest grossing films of 2015. .

However, superstar Rajnikanth's spokesperson, Riaz K Ahmed took to Twitter to squash the rumours. He said:

"News spreading n media abt #superstar doing #BhaskarTheRascal remake n Tamil is untrue, @soundaryaarajni@ash_r_dhanush @latharajnikanth.

With Bhaskar: The Rascal, Siddique hopes to continue the success of his Malayalam remakes. The director has also remade his Malaylam film, Bodyguard, in Hindi and Tamil with Salman Khan and Vijay in the lead roles, respectively.

Rajninkath who has recently completed the shooting for his upcoming thriller, is all set to join the sets of Shankar's 2.0 (Enthiran 2, Robot 2) with Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson.
