The Telugu dubbed version of upcoming Bollywood thriller, Naam Shabana finally gets its title. Jointly produced by Neeraj Pandey and Shital Bhatia, the film is touted to be a prequel of the 2015 Neeraj Pandey thriller Baby. Directed by Shivam Nair, the film stars Taapsee, Manoj Bajpai, Anupam Kher and Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. Naam Shabana also stars Akshay Kumar in an extended cameo as lead of the RAW operation, Ajay Singh Rajput.
Naam Shabana is based on the character of Shabana Kaif, played by Taapsee Pannu, focusing on her journey to becoming a RAW agent in Akshay Kumar's team.
Earlier, there were reports that Naam Shabana will have a simultaneous Telugu release along with its Bollywood version on its opening. And now, the makers had decided to name the film Nene Shabana which means , Name is Shabana in English.
Both Prithviraj Sukumaran and Taapsee are established stars down South and this has worked in favor of makers to release the Telugu version of the film.
Meanwhile, Naam Shabana also marks the third Bollywood outing of Prithviraj after Yash Raj Films' Aiyya and Aurangzeb. Both Hindi and Telugu versions are scheduled to be released on 31 March 2017.
