Mahesh Babu's recent release SPYder is touted as the biggest disaster of 2017 at the Indian Box Office. The AR Murugadoss' Tamil-Telugu bilingual film was released with huge expectations, but turned out to be the second all-time disaster after Ranbir Kappor, Anushka Shetty's Bollywood film Bombay Velvet.
However, noted Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh had stated he was surprised with the stupendous opening the Mahesh Babu starrer had taken on its opening day at the US Box Office.
"On its opening day, Mersal had collected $1 Million in US. Sorry, with due respect to a lot of actors in Hindi film industry, we don't really achieve those numbers, even for a lifetime business. The Khans are very popular in overseas, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. But when you compare with SPYder opening, Mahesh Babu is leagues ahead than the Khans. He is very much ahead in overseas markets". (SIC)
