Catch had reported earlier that Mahesh Babu's much-awaited summer release, Brahmotsavam opened at a poor note at the Box Office.

The film was panned for its long run time: 2 hours and 57 minutes, as well as a poor script. The makers even tried to save the film by trimming nearly 18 minutes, including the song Put Your Hands Up from the second half of the film. However, the negative word-of-mouth publicity had already killed the film's chances at the Box Office as was evident from the opening weekend collections.

After collecting an average Rs 12.75 crore on it's opening day, Brahmotsavam crashed completely on Saturday and Sunday, crucial days for every film. It had dropped around 75% on Saturday by making just Rs 3 crore at the Box Office. It showed no growth on Sunday as well as it grossed just Rs 3.25 crore from the ticket windows.

The opening weekend collections of Brahmotsavam is a shocking Rs 19 crore, which turned out to be less than the opening day collection of another Telugu disaster of the year, Pawan Kalyan's Sardar Gabbar Singh.

Early estimates of Monday collections indicate that Brahmotsavam all set to be the biggest disaster of Mahesh Babu's career. The distributors are sure to lose around Rs 40 to Rs 45 crore. The magnitude of loss will be the second highest in the South Indian film industry after Rajinikanth's Lingaa.
