Mohanlal's upcoming film Villain is slated to release on 27 October. Tipped to be an action entertainer, Villain has been directed by B Unnikrishnan, who had earlier collaborated with the Malayalam superstar in hit films Madampi and Grandmaster.

While the film is just hours away from its theatrical release, the makers of Villain had confirmed Catch about the screen count details of the film.

The Lalettan starrer is all set to create history in Kerala on Friday as the film is releasing in a record number of 253 screens. This is an all-time record as none of the Malayalam films have managed to have 250 plus screens in Gods Own Country. Villain shattered the 225 screens set by the recent Dulquer Salmaan starrer Solo to do so. Though the film is not releasing in three states - Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, yet the makers has succeeded to bring in 149 screens in rest of India markets.

Overall, the all-India screen count of Villain is a massive 402 screens, which is again a new record for a Malayalam film. The record for the biggest Indian release for a Malayalam film was occupied by Mohanlal's 2017 Onam hit Velipadinte Pusthakam which had released in 400 screens.

Villain also stars Manju Warrier along with Tamil actors Vishal and Hansika and Telugu stars Raashi Khanna and Srikanth.
