Last Friday's Malayalam release, Aanandam opened to a terrific note at the Kerala Box Office. The film marks the maiden production venture of popular actor/director Vineeth Sreenivasan and the directorial debut of Ganesh Raj, who was the assistant director in films Thattathin Marayathu, Thira and Jacobinte Swargarajyam.

Surprisingly, the light-hearted campus entertainer has managed to do excellent numbers despite the competition from the Mohanlal blockbuster, Pulimurugan at the Kerala Box Office. Reportedly, Aanandam has collected Rs. 2.35 crore on its opening, which is extraordinary considering the small budget of the film.

Earlier, Catch had reported that Aanandam marked the acting debut of its lead stars including Vishak Nair, Anu Antony, Thomas Matthew, Arun Kurian, Siddhi Mahajankatti, Roshan Mathew and Anarkali Marikar.

As per weekdays trends, Aanandam is rock-steady and will continue to put up good numbers at the Kerala Box Office. The film has been praised for its casting, the campus content and the cinematography as well. Also, the extended cameo of 'Hit machine of Malayalam cinema' has worked favorably for the film. The music of the film has composed by Sachin Warrier with cinematography by Anend C Chandran.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal's Pulimurugan continued to dominate at the Kerala Box Office. The film, which had already emerged as the all-time top Malayalam blockbuster, is on the way to cross the magical Rs. 50 crore mark by the end of its third week.
