Karthi, Sai Pallavi to start shooting for Mani Ratnam's film in Kashmir this September

Veteran Tamil director Mani Ratnam is all set to return to his lucky location, Kashmir, to shoot for a film - after a gap of 24 years.

The untitled project which was initially slated to go on floors in June 2016. However, it has now been revealed that shooting for the film will now kickstart in Kashmir in September. The acclaimed director last shot in Kashmir for his 1992 blockbuster, Roja.

Actor Karthi has bagged the lead in the film and will play the role of an NRI pilot who falls in love with a doctor, played by Sai Pallavi. The film marks the Kollywood debut of Sai Pallavi, who won over the Malayalam audience as Miss Malar in the 2015 blockbuster Premam. The lead role was initially offered to Malayali actor Dulquer Salmaan who made his Kollywood debut last year with Ratnam's hit film O Kadhal Kanmani. However, the actor opted out of the film owing to a lack of dates.

The film will also see Ratnam and AR Rahman collaborating for the 13th time.
