Kaabil: Mohanlal acquires the distribution rights of Hrithik Roshan film for record price

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is the man of the hour. After setting records for his last release, Pulimurugan, Mohanlal is back in the news again, as he has acquired the theatrical rights of Hrithik Roshan's upcoming film, Kaabil, for a record price in Kerala.

The rights were acquired by Mohanlal's home banner, Mohanlal's Max Lab Cinemas And Entertainments, and the actor's producer-friend Antony Perumbavoor's Aashirvad Cinemas.

While the actual figures have not yet been revealed, with this deal Kaabil creates history as the Sanjay Gupta directorial marks the first Bollywood movie to be released by Aashirvad Cinemas and Maxlab Cinemas And Entertainments in Kerala. And thanks to Lalettan, now Kaabil can enjoy a historical opening at the Kerala Box Office when it releases on 26 January, 2017.

Earlier, Catch had reported that the Kerala theatrical rights of the Rajinikanth-starrer Kabali have been sold for a record sum of Rs 7.50 crore to 4-time-National-award winning actor's Maxlab Cinemas And Entertainments. The Thalaivar's film took the all-time highest opening at the Kerala Box Office and minted Rs 17 crore from its theatrical run in the state.
