Telugu actor Mahesh Babu turned 42 on Wednesday as the actor celebrates his birthday on 9 August. The actor made his acting debut in the 1999 film Raja Kumarudu opposite Bollywood actress Preity Zinta. In a career spanning 18 years, Mahesh Babu has done 22 films as the lead actor and out of which he has delivered 17 hits and five flops.
Mahesh Babu's real name is Ghatta Maneni. However, he is fondly known as Prince Of Tollywood for his good looks by fans and critics alike. He delivered his first blockbuster in 2003 with Gunasekhar's Okkadu. The film went on to become the highest Telugu grosser of the year and was later remade in Tamil, Bengali, Kannada and Hindi. Mahesh Babu's 2006 blockbuster Pokkiri's Bollywood remake, Wanted, gave Bollywood actor Salman Khan a second innings after a string of flops.
Mahesh Babu married his Vamshi co-star, Bollywood actress Namrata Shirodkar in Mumbai in 2006, after dating her for four years. In 2013, he was voted the Times Most Desirable Men beating the Bollywood Khans, Kumars and Kapoors. His 2015 film, Srimanthudu is the only Telugu film apart from Baahubali series to gross Rs. 200 crore worldwide.
Mahesh Babu is all set to make his Tamil debut in upcoming R Murugadoss directorial SPYder. The film is said to be a stylish thriller and Mahesh Babu has dubbed the film in his own voice. The teaser of the film released today as a birthday gift to the actor and his fans.
