Dangal would have starred Mohanlal or Kamal Haasan if not Aamir Khan, reveal the makers

Aamir Khan starrer Dangal is nearing one-month of it's theatrical release, but the film is still minting crores at the box office. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and jointly produced by Aamir Khan and Siddharth Roy Kapur, the sports-drama was released on 23 December last year.

Recently, Divya Rao, the creative producer of UTV Motion Pictures had revealed that had Aamir Khan not agreed to do Dangal, the makers would have cast Malayalam actor Mohanlal or Tamil actor Kamal Haasan to do the main lead role of Mahavir Singh Phogat.

"Aamir Khan was the first choice for portraying Mahavir Singh Phogat in Dangal. If Aamir had not agreed to do the film, the only other actors who come to mind are Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan".

Interestingly, before venturing into the the world of cinema, Mohanlal was a professional wrestler. The Malayalam superstar won the Kerala state wrestling championship in 1977-78.

Meanwhile, Dangal has crossed the coveted Rs. 700 crore mark to become the all-time highest Indian grosser at the Box office worldwide. In Indian Box Office alone, Dangal has so far minted Rs. 372 crore from it's 26-days of theatrical release.
