Two major non-Tamil films clashed at the Chennai box office on 23 June - Bollywood film Tubelight featuring Salman Khan and Telugu actor Allu Arjun's Duvvada Jagannadham. While Tubelight screened in 170 shows from 14 cinemas across Chennai, the Allu Arjun starrer was screened in 105 shows from 11 cinemas in the city.

Both the films had the benefit of four-day-long weekend and surprisingly, Tubelight has collected more than the Allu Arjun's movie at the Chennai box office. Though both the films opened to 90% occupancy across Chennai, but Tubelight got the profit of more number of shows as compared to the Allu Arjun's film.
On its four-day weekend, Tubelight has grossed more than Rs. 50 lakh at the Chennai box office whereas Duvvada Jagannadham has minted nearly Rs. 30 lakh in Chennai.

It will be interesting to see how both films will fare from Tuesday as both Tubelight and Duvvada Jagannadham received mixed reviews from the audience and critics alike.
