Chennai Box Office: MS Dhoni biopic hits a helicopter shot, mints Rs 2 crore on opening day!

The much-awaited Neeraj Pandey film MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has opened to an earth-shattering response at the Chennai Box Office. The film, a biopic on current Team India ODI & T20 captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, stars Sushant Singh Rajput in the titular role.

As expected, the film has opened to an overwhelming response at Chennai's ticket windows. As per early trends, it has raked in a whopping Rs 2 crore on its opening day, which is outstanding considering the stiff competition the film had from last week's releases, Dhanush's Thodari and Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Aandavan Kattalai. At some places, the opening response to the film is almost on par with the likes of Vijay's Theri and Vikram's Iru Mugan.

However, the reports of the film are mixed and it will be interesting to see how the film performs in the weekdays, starting Monday. The film is all set to beat the opening weekend numbers of 2016's highest grosser, Salman Khan's Sultan in Chennai.
