Chennai Box Office: Mani Ratnam's Kaatru Veliyidai set to be a big disaster

Mani Ratnam's last week release Kaatru Veliyidai is struggling at the Chennai Box Office. Written, produced and directed by Mani Ratnam himself, the film stars Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari as the main lead.

After recording a good Rs. 2.50 crore on its opening week, the collections of Kaatru Veliyidai has dropped considerably at the Box Office. The release of four major films on Friday, Shivalinga, Kadamban, Pa.Paandi and Fast & Furious 8 has largely worked against the Mani Ratnam film as Kaatru Veliyidai has lost the majority of screens on its second weekend.

The Karthi starrer had screened in just 90 shows across 10 theaters of Chennai on its second weekend. Kaatru Veliyidai had minted below average collections of Rs. 20 lakh on its second weekend at the Chennai Box Office. By the end of its second weekend, the total collection of the film across the cinemas of Chennai stands at Rs. 2.70 crore, which is shocking considering the film comes from Mani Ratnam.

With Fast & Furious dominating the Chennai Box Office and SS Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Conclusion is slated to be released next week, it will be an uphill task ahead for Kaatru Veliyidai at the Chennai Box Office.

Kaatru Veliyidai also stars Delhi Ganesh, Vipin Sharma, Shraddha Srinath, RJ Balaji and KPAC Lalitha.
