Tagore Madhu, one of the joint producers of upcoming AR Murugadoss - Mahesh Babu film has revealed that his magnum-opus will be a version 2.0 of the Tamil film Thuppakki. The 2012 Tamil blockbuster, which tells the story of a secret operation of a soldier to rid Mumbai of sleeping cells, was directed by AR Murugadoss as well. The film was later remade in Bollywood with Akshay Kumar, titled Holiday : A Soldier Is Never Off Duty. The Ghajini producer also revealed that Tamil actor Bharath has been roped in to play an important role in his film.
The un-titled film also marks the Tamil debut of Mahesh Babu. Rakul Preet plays the female lead while Tamil actor S.J Surya portrays the main antagonist of the film.
Apart from Tagore Madhu, the mega budget film is bankrolled jointly by seven producers including NV Prasad, Reliance Entertainment, Leo Productions, Mega Super Good Films, Fox Star Studios along with Mahesh Babu and director Murugadoss under their respective banners. The title and first look of the film is expected to be revealed on 1 January 2017.
The film will hit the screens in April next year.
