50 blockbuster days for Vijay's Theri, all set to emerge as actor's biggest hit till date

Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Theri has successfully completed its 50-day theatrical run today.

The Atlee directorial action-thriller was released on 14 April, 2016 on Tamil New Year. The movie opened to houseful shows in almost all the cinemas in Chennai. The Ilayathalapathy-starrer collected a record-breaking Rs 4 crore at the Chennai Box Office to see the highest four-day opening weekend ever in Chennai.

On it's opening day, Theri collected Rs 29 crore which now stands at the seventh spot in the list of all-time highest South Indian openers after Bahubali, Sardar Gabbar Singh, Lingaa, I, Srimanthudu and Endhiran. The Ilyathalapathy-starrer has also crossed the coveted Rs 100 crore in just six days to become the fastest Rs 100 crore grosser in Kollywood, beating Ajith's Vedalam record of eight days. Theri is also Vijay's third century outing after Thuppakki and Kaththi.

Theri was a blockbuster in Kerala too as it minted Rs 17.50 crore at the Box Office. At the overseas Box Office, Theri has grossed Rs 62 crore from it's theatrical run. The film, which is still running to packed houses in Chennai has so far grossed more than Rs 175 crore from worldwide Box Office. It has been praised for its smart direction and performances of the leading cast, Vijay, Samantha and Baby Nainika.

The Kalaipuli S Thanu production venture will be looking to cross Thuppakki's collection of the Rs 180 crore mark worldwide, to become Vijay's biggest blockbuster till date.
