The BJP believes "farmer welfare measures" undertaken by the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh could help it retain power in the state. Refuting Opposition charges that the condition of farmers has worsened in Uttar Pradesh in the last 4.5 years, Yogi Adityanath claimed that the report card of his government speaks for itself.

"The state government has transferred a total of Rs 37,388 crores to more than 2.54 crore farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana” claimed CM Yogi Adityanath while addressing a function on the completion of 4.5 years of BJP government in Uttar Pradesh.

The state government has hiked the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to ensure farmers get the deserving price for their crops.

“After independence, a government has come at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh that are totally committed to doubling the income of farmers and ensuring their welfare,” the Chief Minister said.

He also apprised farmers of the work done by the Central and the state government in the interest of farmers. The government has also cleared long-awaited payments of over Rs 1.44 lakh crore during the past 4.5 years.

The government has also waived off loans worth Rs 36,000 crore of about 86 lakh farmers to help them get back on their feet.

CM Yogi government claims that the pro-farmers approach of the state government has played a huge role in the production of 2,399 lakh MT of food grains during the past four and a half years.

The government has also provided compensation of Rs 2,376 crore to the farmers under Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana.

For the first time in 25 years, free of cost licenses were issued for Khandsari sugar production units. Licenses were issued for setting up 243 new Khandsari units. Out of which 133 units have been operationalized. With an investment of Rs 273 crore in these units, about 16,500 people will get employment opportunities. With the establishment of new Khandsari units, more than 50,000 people will get employment, claims BJP in a press release.
