Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee by terming her as a ‘speed breaker’ Didi in the way of the West Bengal’s development. Following the barb the West Bengal CM hit back at the PM Modi within a few hours by calling him ‘expiry babu,’ and pointing out that the tenure of the present government has come to an end.

“If the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) returns to power in 2019, Lok Sabha polls will not be held anymore because they will change the Indian Constitution,” the Trinamool Congress chief said at her first election rally on Wednesday. Bengal witnessed some verbal war on Wednesday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Mamata Banerjee led the battle for the state's 42 seats.

"You worry about Delhi first and then turn your eyes on Bengal," said the Banerjee said, accusing PM Modi of making false claims about her government’s performance in the state. "I am not Modi, I don't tell lies," the Chief Minister declared.

Reacting to the attack on her principal adversary, Banerjee called Modi “fascist,” “communal,” a “rioter” and “anti-poor,” shortly after PM Modi finished his first rally in Siliguri and flew down to Kolkata to address the second. She also referred to Modi as “expiry babu” several times, pointing out that the tenure of the present government has come to an end.

“You claim to be chowkidar (security guard) of the country. In that case, why did you fail to protect the soldiers who died in Pulwama, despite having intelligence inputs on the terror attack? What right do you have to call our armed forces the ‘Modi Sena?’” Banerjee said.
