Watch: BJP's Sakshi Maharaj says women in Islam are treated like footwear

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Sakshi Maharaja has reportedly said that Muslim women are treated like footwear. He also demanded judicial intervention to allow women to enter mosques. According to reports, the BJP leader has also asserted that the country should be run by the Constitution and not fatwas.

"Women in Islam are no better than footwear... The country should be run by the constitution and not Fatwas," India Today quoted the BJP MP from Unnao as saying.

Deccan Chronicle reported that while addressing a Shobayatra in Hyderabad on the occasion of Rama Navami, 15 April, Sakshi Maharaj had also stated, "Sri Ram is the lord of all religions in India and people will teach a lesson to those who refuse to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai." 

He also claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would fulfill the dreams of Sri Ram. 

The MP, who is known to make controversial statements, also said that terrorism could only be curbed with bullets.
