New Zealand produced a masterclass in the Rugby World Cup final in London on Saturday, 31 October, as they trumped Australia 34-17 to retain the title they won in 2011, thereby becoming the first team to successfully the title.

New Zealand started the match the stronger side, and raced to an incredible 21-3 lead in the first half. Australia came back superbly in the second half, and reduced the deficit to 17-21. However, the All Blacks managed to grab the initiative back and shut out the Australian attack for the rest of the game.

At the other end, New Zealand increased their lead to 34-17, to ensure their third World Cup triumph, the highest ever in the history of the sport.
