Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu advanced to the quarterfinals of the Macau Open Grand Prix on Thursday, 26 November, after defeating Indonesia's Lindaweni Fanetri in straight games.
The two-time bronze medallist at World Championships overcame Fanetri 21-17, 21-18 in a thrilling contest that lasted about 46 minutes. Both the shuttlers slugged it out in a close first game, but it was Sindhu who took the initiative in the match with a strong finish to win the game.
The story was pretty much similar in the second game, with Sindhu once again clinching it with a strong finish, thus confirming her progress to the quarters.
Sindhu will next take on Chen Yufei of China to seal a berth in semifinals.
Meanwhile, HS Prannoy and B Sai Praneeth will battle out in their respective contests to secure their places in the quarterfinals.
