Ace Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap was in a rich vein of form as he thrashed Artem Pochtarev of Ukraine in the first round of the German Grand Prix Gold men's singles event. With the win he has advanced to the second round of the tournament.
The 29-year-old swept Pochtarev aside 21-9, 21-9 in the one-sided opening contest that lasted for just 24 minutes.
Kashyap will meet Ireland's Joshua Magee in the second round.
Meanwhile, sixth-seed Kidambi Srikanth recovered from a shaky start to brush aside Japan's Takuma Ueda 12-21, 21-18, 21-11 to progress to the next round.
