Defending champions Sania-Hingis crash out of Wimbledon with quater-final loss

Defending champions and top seeds Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis' Wimbledon run ended after losing 2-6 4-6 to the Hungarian-Kazakhstani pair of Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova in the quarters, on Thursday.

Hingis and Mirza fell to a 2-6 loss in the first set, making too many unforced errors.

Though they improved in the second set having three break points in the third game of the set, they failed to convert them and lost the second as well giving by 1-5.

The Sania-Hingis pair did fight back to win the next three games, but their opponents held on to win the second set 4-6.

In the women's singles, World No 1 Serena Williams has moved to the final effortlessly, defeating the unseeded Elena Vesnina 6-2 6-0 in the semi-final. Williams will meet either Angelique Kerber or her sister Venus Williams in the finasl.
