China Open: Saina Nehwal fails to retain title; loses final to Li Xuerui

China Open: Saina Nehwal fails to retain title; loses final to Li XueruiWorld number two shuttler Saina Nehwal suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Chinese opponent Xuerui Li to finish as a runner up at the China Open Superseries on Sunday.

The Olympic champion took just 39 minutes to beat Nehwal 21-12, 21-15 as she eased to a title win on home turf. Saina had won the title here last year, and had beaten seventh seed Wang Yihan on the way to the final this year.

The ace Indian shuttler has won two tournaments this year- the India Open Super Series and India Grand Prix Gold, but lost the All-England and World Championships final to world number one Carolina Marin of Spain.
