Asian Games 2018: Ace Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra to be India’s flag-bearer in 18th Asian Games

The superstar Haryana born Javelin thrower star Neeraj Chopra will be India’s flag bearer in the opening ceremony of the upcoming Asian Games 2018.

In his short career Chopra has won a gold medal at World Junior Championships, Asian Championships, South Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.


Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president Narinder Batra made an announcement on friday during the send-off ceremony organised for the Indian contingent.

In the 2016 South Asian Games, the Haryana lad equaled the national record with a throw of 82.23 meters.

The Asian Games 2018 will begin on August 18 in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia with an opening ceremony at GBK main stadium in Jakarta.

It will be India's 18th appearance. India have participated in the Asian Games since the start of the event.

There are at least 276 men and another 247 women participating in the Asian Games 2018 from Indian side.
