Kapil Dev to be appointed as first Chancellor of Haryana Sports University

India’s World Cup winning skipper Kapil Dev will be designated as the first Chancellor of the Haryana Sports University at Rai, Sonepat, stated Haryana minister Anil Vij.

"Kapil Dev will be the first Chancellor of Haryana Sports University at Rai, Sonepat," Vij wrote on Twitter.

Soon after declaring that Kapil Dev will be designated as the first Chancellor of Haryana Sports University, Anil Vij stated that venerable players have given his assent. The Haryana cabinet on 16th July gave its consent to formulate the Haryana Sports University.

"Haryana cabinet approves the setting up of Haryana Sports University at Rai, Sonepat. The University will have powers to conduct academic and training programmes in physical education and sports sciences," Vij had said.

"It will have powers to conduct academic and training programmes in physical education and sports sciences, including sports technology, sports medicine, sports management, sports infrastructure engineering, sports psychology, sports nutrition, sports journalism and sports marketing," he had added.

Haryana lawmaker Anil Vij also manifested his determination to improve the standard of sports via this university.

"I want players to get ready in this sports university who will improve the standard of sports. Courses for sports science, sports nutrition, sports engineering, sports medicine, and sports journalism will be started here. I want this to become functional as soon as possible as there is a need for it in India," he said.

"For such thing, players have to go abroad and if such facilities will be provided here, in our University, then players will get all the facilities in India," Vij said.
