England is playing against its arch-rival Australia in the second semi-final of the ongoing World Cup. Early in the match, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision proved to be a boon for England as they took three wickets in the first powerplay with the new ball.

Australia lost their skipper Aaron Finch, David Warner and Peter Handscomb early in the match. But an incident happened that won the heart of fans from both the nations. Jofra Archer’s short-pitch bouncer hit Alex Carey on chin and blood spilled everywhere.

Alex went on to score 46 runs in the innings and helped his team put up a fighting total. Carey notched up a 100-run partnership with Steve Smith. Carey’s innings consisted of 4 boundaries and his strike rate was 65.71.

Australia was bundled out for 223 runs and seven batsmen were dismissed on a single-digit score. Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid were the highest wicket-taker for England as they both took three wickets each.

England will now have to chase 224 runs to reach the World Cup final. New Zealand after defeating India is waiting in the final already.
