A handicapped Higher Secondary examinee in Nadia district whose right hand and right leg are defunct from birth was allegedly denied a copywriter 16 March, 2017 , the first day of HS Examinations, since he had no permission from the HS Council.

Jabbar Mondal, father of Safikul Mondal (the candidate) alleged that the headmaster of his son's school, Md Wasif Ali, had advised them to get a copywriter for his son 20 days ago and also had told them that he would get the permission for the copywriter from the Council.

"But on 8 March, 2017 he asked us to go to the Council and handed a letter to us. We are poor and uneducated and stay about 200 km away from Kolkata and we failed to go," Jabbar said.

The Headmaster said, "According to the system, the candidate and the copy writer would have to appear at the Council physically with relevant documents. I had given them the letter last Wednesday so that they could go to the Council. But they did not go."

He also said that if they go to Council then he would accompany them if needed.

While District Magistrate Nadia, Sumit Gupta said that the student was admitted to examination hall, the SDO Tehatta, Sudhir Kontham said, "The competent authority allowed him an extra hour to write the answer script today and the permission for copy writer will be arranged soon."

"I cannot write with my right hand and not used to write with left hand," the candidate Safikul Mondal, a student of Thanarpara High Madrasha High School, in Thanapara in Nadia district said.
