Viral video: Elderly woman falls at UP cops feet and begs to register FIR of her grandson’s death, shifted out after video goes viral

A video of an elderly woman falling on feet of a policeman and begging to file a First Information Report (FIR) has gone viral after which the cop has been shifted out. Reportedly, Tej Prakash Singh, a police inspector from Lucknow was removed and sent to the poice lines, after a video of him went viral on social media. In the video an elderly woman can be seen begging and falling at his feet, to register FIR in her grandson’s death case.

The woman identified as 75-year-old Brahma Devi had gone to the Gudamba police station, after her grandson Akash Yadav, a labourer in plywood factory died. The deceased was crushed under a malfunctioning machine at the factory, the woman alleged.


 

Notably, Gudamba police station ranked India’s top three last year by the union home ministry, and awarded by Rajnath Singh. In the video the woman can be seen folding her hands in front of the police inspector, crying and begging to file case. However the cop didn’t reacted after which she fell on his feet. Though, Police station in-charge Singh, continues to remain seated on a chair leisurely, with his legs crossed, watching her.

“On the deceased’s brother record report has been filed and case in under investigation”, said Tej Pratap Inspector of the Gudamba Police Station. While, Manoj Sonkar, DFO Lucknow assured, “The case will be investigation and in case the factory was running without license, probe will take place in accordance to the rules.”

"We will examine the whole video...find out the circumstances and act further in the case," said Harendra Singh, a senior police officer in Lucknow.

As per lobourer’s relative, thry tried to file FIR against Ajay Gupta, owner of the the plywood factory. He is missing since the incident day. Locals alleges machines being used in the factory were outdated and in dire need of repair.
