On 15 June, the Indian Meteorological Department issued a heavy rainfall alert in Uttarakhand, following which the state government has directed officials to take precautionary measures.
The department said that heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places across the state - especially in Uttarkashi, Tehri, Dehradun, Almora, Nainital, Champavat and Pithoragarh districts - during a period of 48-hours starting from the morning of 15 June.
Chief Secretary Shatrughna Singh has issued an advisory to all the District Magistrates, asking them to be vigilant and take all precautionary measures for people's safety.
