Uttar Pradesh: 26-year-old policeman injured in a gunfight between police and criminal in Amroha, died

In an encounter, a police constable Harsh Chaudhary was injured during a gunfight between criminal and police in Uttar Pradesh’s Amaroha on Sunday night. 26-year-old Harsh Chaudhary died of bullet injuries, a police official said. Harsh Chaudhury has joined the police force in 2016.

"Around 7 to 8 pm last evening, a police team went after a wanted criminal after receiving specific information in Amroha's Bachhraon area. He had 19 criminal cases against him. When police asked him to surrender he fired at the police party in which one of our constables Harsh Chaudhary was injured. He was immediately taken to the hospital where he died during the treatment, senior police officer Anand Kumar said.


The criminal, Shivavtar was also shot in retaliatory fire. He died at the hospital. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has announced compensation of Rs 40 lakh to wife and 10 lakh for the parents of Harsh Chaudhary. Also, a government job will be given to one of his family members.  

Notably, since Yogi Adityanath took charge as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh over 3000 police encounters have been done. 78 people, allegedly criminals, have been killed in these encounters and reportedly Harsh Chaudhury was the seventh police personnel to die in an encounter.
