Unnao rape survivor who accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar hit by a truck; aunt, lawyer killed

Unnao rape survivor who accused Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was hit by a truck later today. The victim is very critical at the moment and was accompanied by her aunt and lawyer who died in the accident. According to a report, the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital in Lucknow and is critically injured.

As per reports, the woman was visiting her uncle Mahesh Singh who is lodged in Rae Bareli jail. The woman was accompanied by her aunt and lawyer Mahendra Singh, both of whom died in the accident.


 

The woman had accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of rape in June 2017. She was allegedly raped by Sengar at his residence when she went there to seek a job with one of her relative. Kuldeep Singh Sengar is now in jail along with his brother Atul Singh after a case was registered against him with Makhi police station under section 363, 366, 376, 506 and POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) of Indian Penal Code.

Kuldeep Sengar is a fourth term MLA from Bangarmau town in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district. He contested the legislative election from Bhartiya Janata Party ticket in 2017 and won. In 2002, he was a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate and fought the election from Unnao Sadar. He helped BSP win the seat for the first time since independence. He joined Samajwadi Party (SP) in 2007 and won the election from Bangarmau.
