Tremors felt in Kolkata, Patna, Guwahati as Myanmar hit by 6.8 magnitude earthquake

A strong earthquake of 6.8 magnitude hits central Myanmar, according to US Geological Survey.

Tremors were felt across eastern and central India, with residents across Kolkata, Patna, Bhubaneswar and Guwahati reporting quakes.

According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre, earthquake tremors of magnitude of 7 were felt about 190 km of Mandalay in Myanmar. No casualties have been reported so far.

Earlier in the day, an earthquake rocked central Italy, killing at least 20. The Italian towns of Amatrice and Accumoli near Rieti reported the maximum damage.
