The northern parts of India adjacent to Delhi have witnessed thunderstorms and gusty winds on Monday late night. The IMD has issued a high alert in several northern Indian states, including Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and Delhi on Tuesday. Schools will remain shut in parts of Delhi-NCR and other states including Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. A high alert has been issued in all the states. The AAP government has come out with a list of “dos and don’ts”.
Following the IMD warning, the Delhi Metro has decided to exercise extreme caution in running of trains. The late-night dust storm that hit Delhi and several northern parts have also affected the flight operations at India Gandhi International Airport.

The Delhi Traffic Police’s advisory states that it has alerted the field formations to be ready to get obstacles such as fallen trees removed. The advisory has asked commuters to avoid travelling during the storm. Those who are stopping on the road or parking their vehicle have been advised to keep away from overhead electrical wires, tinned roofs, trees, etc., it said.
