Angel Gupta, a 28-year-old model who was held by Delhi police on Thursday along with her 38-year-old on charges of killing his wife in Delhi's Bawana. The model paid a whopping amount of Rs 2.5 lakh to the contract killers to murder Sunita, a school teacher.
Angel assigned specific tasks to the killers and flew to Mumbai at the time of the crime, police said, adding the deceased teacher's personal diary helped solve the case.
The 38-year-old Manjeet and his girlfriend, an aspiring model were arrested by Delhi police after a teacher, Sunita has shot dead in a broad daylight 4 days ago. Angel's father Rajeev helped them in the conspiracy, the police said after the arrest.
According to the police, the accused Manjeet was having an affair with a model and wanted to marry her so he conspired to kill her. On Monday morning, the 37-year-old teacher was shot dead in Bawana area by unknown men while she was on the way to her school. She was shot thrice and was declared brought dead at the hospital.
On Friday the Delhi police announced fourth arrest in the case on Friday. The fourth accused, Rajeev’s driver Deepak, was arrested for helping Angel contact the two contract killers.
Deputy commissioner of police (Rohini), Rajneesh Gupta, said, “Shashi Prabha alias Angel Gupta had struck a deal for Rs 10 lakh with the two hired killers and had paid them ₹2.5 lakh in two instalments.”
Police said the two gunmen had initially demanded ₹18 lakh but settled for ₹10 lakh. Police said the two gunmen have been identified. “We are conducting raids to nab them. Everyone had a specific role in the murder conspiracy. The final planning was done on October 23 when all of them met. Angel assigned everyone their specific task before flying to Mumbai, where she was at the time of the crime. While Manjeet’s role was to tell the others of his wife’s routine, Rajeev and Deepak did a recee of the roads Sunita took,” the officer said.
