Suresh Chavhanke, the editor of Sudarshan TV news channel, got arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police on 12 April from Lucknow airport on charges of inciting communal sentiments.

If the media reports are to be believed, Chavhanke was arrested before he was able to lead a mob against a particular community in Sambhal district.

Chavhanke was booked under Sections 153 A(1), 295A and 505(1)B of the Indian Penal Code and also booked under section 16 of the Cable Television Network (Regulation) Act, 1955, reported The Hindu.

A 2007 batch IPS officer Ravi Shankar Chabbi has reportedly alleged that the editor was involved in airing content that disturbed communal harmony in the district.

Members of different communities complained about content shown in the show Bindaas Bol which prompted police to take action against him.
