The newly-elected Amethi MP said she received the message loud and clear after Surendra Singh, ex-village head, was shot dead at his residence.

"On (May) 23, I was given a message that take care of Amethi with love. To the person, who gave me the message, I would like to say that I have received the message loud and clear," she said, referring to Rahul Gandhi's remarks made on the results day.

On 23rd May, accepting his defeat from home turf seat Amethi, Rahul Gandhi congratulated Irani and said "On (May) 23, I was given a message that take care of Amethi with love. To the person, who gave me the message, I would like to say that I have received the message loud and clear," she said, referring to Mr Gandhi's remarks made on the counting day.

Smriti Irani immediate rushed to Amethi from New Delhi and participate in the last rites of Surendra Singh. Smriti also lent her shoulder to Singh’s mortal remains in the funeral. Singh was offered seen with Irani during the poll campaign for Lok Sabha elections.

Irani said Surendra Singh was killed so that Amethi could be "terrorised, disintegrated and bowed down". She also said to approach the Supreme Court to ensure capital punishment to Surendra Singh’s killer.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given 12 hours deadline to the state police chief to show results on Surendra Singh’s murder case. Seven people have been taken into custody and they are being interrogated.
