The cracks in Uttar Pradesh's ruling Yadav family were on display for all to see at the Samajwadi Party's silver jubilee celebrations in Lucknow on 5 November.

During the celebrations, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and SP state chief and his uncle Shivpal Yadav made veiled attacks on each other.

High drama ensued after Shivpal shoved party leader Javed Abidi on stage. Abidi - who is an Akhilesh supporter - interrupted Shivpal during his speech.

Before the altercation, Shivpal announced on stage that he did not have any aspiration of becoming the CM of Uttar Pradesh. However, he said that some "outsiders" had entered the party and said that party leaders needed to stay alert.
