Sachidanand Hari Sakshi Maharaj, has stirred controversy once again. This time around, for saying that the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was still on the Bharatiya Janta Party's agenda.

The BJP MP from Unnao also said he would contest the Lok Sabha elections only after the construction of the temple in 2019.

Talking to Rajasthan Patrika during a visit to Khatipur in Jaswant Nagar district, the BJP MP said the issue of the Ram temple in Ayodhya would remain a crucial issue ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections - due in 2017.

"Centre will fulfill its promise of rebuilding the temple," Maharaj said. He added that the temple could only be constructed after a green signal from the Supreme Court.

"Besides the apex Court's judgment, the Muslim community should come forward and allow us to go ahead. Even the proposal pending in the Lok Sabha should be passed at the earliest or else we should reconsider the history of Somnath temple and follow the same approach."

Maharaj also said Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh would play an important role in the UP assembly election.

"Without Kalyan Singh, the BJP cannot win UP elections. The party will have to find a place for Singh, otherwise results won't be fruitful."
