Fresh clashes between protesters and government forces in Kashmir's Pulwama district on Friday left a man dead, taking the death toll in the state since Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was killed to 47.
The man who died was hit by a bullet when the forces fired in retaliation upon a mob. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Srinagar's SMHS hospital, which is also treating two other injured in the clash, says the Hindustan Times.
Meanwhile, Union home minister Rajnath Singh will visit Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday on a two-day visit to meet state chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and delegations from different sections of society.
A home ministry official said: "He (Rajnath Singh) will meet representatives of political parties, social organisations and leading citizens to get their feedback about the situation."
