Rajasthan: At least 13 people killed and 18 injured after a speeding truck rammed into a marriage procession

At least 13 people killed, including four of them children while 18 people were left injured after a speeding truck rammed into a marriage procession in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh district, police said Tuesday.

This shocking accident happened near Ramdev temple on State Highway- 113 on Monday night. A speeding truck going to Banswara from Nimbahera, rammed into the marriage procession on the roadside.


Also, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed his grief over the incident. He took to Twitter and wrote, ‘My heartfelt condolences to the grieved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of injured people (sic)’.

 

After the accident, wounded people were rushed to a government hospital in Choti Sadri and 15 critically injured were referred to another hospital with facilities in Udaipur.

Meanwhile, nine of the deceased have been identified as Ramesh (30), Daulatram (60), Bharat (30), Arjun (15), Ishu (19), Karan (28), Shubham (5), Chotu (5) and Dilip (11), police said.

Reportedly, the accident took place as the truck driver couldn’t see the procession, DSP said.

Moreover, the dead bodies have been kept in a mortuary for postmortem. An investigation is underway.
