Rabri Devi defends rape convict Raj Ballabh in Nawada, campaigns for his wife Vibha Devi

Rabri Devi, former Chief Minister of Bihar, while campaigning in a rally in Nawada has courted controversy by stating her support to a rape convict Rajballabh Yadav, and also asked the citizens to vote for his wife Vibha Yadav.

While addressing a rally in Nawada, Rabri Devi has claimed that Rajballabh Yadav was wrongly framed in the rape case and it’s an attempt to defame Yadav’s across the state. Senior RJD leader also asked people to vote for his wife in the upcoming Lok Sabha election of 2019.


Rabri Devi said, “Sabhi logon se meri appeal rahegi, jis tarah se Raj Ballabh (rape convict) ji ko ye log phasane ka kaam kiya, jail bhejne ka kaam kiya, yadavon ko badnaam karne ka kaam kiya hai. Vibha Devi pratyashi hain, Vibha Devi ko jitane ka kaam kariyega.”

Rajballabh along with four others, who was convicted under the POCSO Act of raping a minor in 2016, is an MLA from from the RJD party in Nawada. Yadav was named in the FIR for raping a minor at his residence in Bihar Sharif on February 6, 2016.

The Supreme Court had also declined the bail granted to the convict by the Patna High Court on November 24, 2016.

RJD is contesting the 2019 polls in a grand alliance with Congres, RLSP, VIP and CPI (M-L).
