A 20-year-old Dalit boy was found dead with his leg chopped off in Mansa district of Punjab on 10 October.

According to reports, six people from the same village have been arrested for allegedly murdering the Dalit youth, identified as Sukhchain Singh Pali.

Pali's father has alleged that his son was murdered by the village landlords involved in liquor smuggling while he was on his way back home, NDTV reported.

The report also added that Pali was involved in liquor smuggling.

The police have registered a complaint against the landlords of the village Amandeep, Balbir Singh and others.

Meanwhile, the other villagers and Pali's family protested saying they would not cremate the body till the police arrest all the "upper caste" men.

Pali's family further alleged that he was targetted for being a Dalit.
