In a first for Punjab, PM Narendra Modi to present MSME awards in Ludhiana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will present the national MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) awards to 225 industrialists at Ludhiana, Punjab, this afternoon.

He will also launch the national SC/ST hub and zero effect on environment scheme for MSME sector at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The hub scheme was announced in Union Budget.

This hub is being set up under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation scheme.

He will also distribute 150 spinning wheels to women from weaker sections to enable them to earn their livelihood.

The Prime Minister will also visit an industrial exhibition in the city.

The BJP has put up hoardings across the city welcoming the Prime Minister.

Congress plans a parallel protest

PPCC president Capt Amarinder Singh would burn the effigy of 'Chitta' Raavan on Chandigarh road today, according to reports. The Ravana will reportedly have an image of CM Badal on it.

Prime Minister's Himachal visit

Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi will visit Himachal Pradesh, where he will inaugurate three hydropower projects of 1,752 MW capacity.
