PM Modi to inaugurate the 2019 edition of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas today in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the 2019 edition of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD), the Indian diaspora conclave today in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi.

During the inauguration of PBD, Mauritius’ Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth will be the chief guest of this year and will also address Tuesday’s inaugural ceremony, while Himanshu Gulati, the member of Parliament of Norway will also be the special guest of the event.


As per the reports, at least 5,000 delegates from Indian overseas likely to participate during the launch of the 2019 edition of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD). Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi, member of Parliament of New Zealand, will be the guest of honour.

The theme of the coclave is “Role of Indian Diaspora in building New India”. During the launch PM Modi is expected to face demands from overseas Indians for dual citizenship and free visas to India.

On 23rd Janauary, President Ram Nath Kovind will address the concluding function.

However on Monday, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj along with Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath had inaugurated the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.
