PM Modi greets nation on Guru Purnima. Javadekar to felicitate MPs from academic backgrounds

On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima on 19 July, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the nation.

Prime Minister Modi took to his Twitter handle to wish the nation. "Greetings on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima," he tweeted.

Guru Purnima is a festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers. The day of full moon, Purnima, in the month of Ashadh of the Hindu calendar is traditionally celebrated as Guru Purnima.

On 17 July, Minister of Human Resource Development, Prakash Javadekar, felicitated students who had recorded outstanding grades in the recently-concluded Class 12 examinations. On 19 July, Javadekar will felicitate MPs with academic backgrounds within the Parliament premises.

Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST) Shirdi will also celebrate its annual three-day Guru Purnima Utsav with religious rituals and cultural performances by nationally-acclaimed artistes."Guru Pournima is one of the four annual festivals celebrated by Shirdi. Devotees across the world consider Sai baba as their Guru," Times of India quoted SSST CEO Bajirao Shinde, as saying.

"They visit the temple during these three days to offer prayers and seek blessings. The trust has decided to keep the temple open for 24 hours on Tuesday," Shinde said.
