The Panama Papers leak has thrown up names of three media personalities from Bhopal among the names of five people from the city who have allegedly deposited money in offshore accounts in tax havens.
The names of Nitika Agarwal, Anurup Kumar Srivastava, Sanjiv Mohan Gupta, Sapna Gupta and Jayant Sharma have surfaced in the data on the website of International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).
Nitika Agarwal is the director of the Bhaskar Group while Sanjiv Mohan Gupta and Sapna Gupta are the directors of the Jagran group. All three have refused to comment on the allegations.

Nitika is the wife of Bhaskar Group Chairman Ramesh Chand Agarwal's younger son Pawan Agarwal. Nitika's brother-in-laws Sudhir Agarwal and Girish Agarwal are also the directors of the company.
Nitika Agarwal is one of the directors at DB Corp Limited. She holds a 1.90% share in DB Corp Ltd while her husband Pawan Agarwal has a 10.12% share. Ramesh Chand Agarwal has a 17.46% share in the same company.
According to reports, Nitika Agarwal is the director of a firm called Brick Joint Pte Ltd. The firm lists her address as E1/79, Arora Colony, Bhopal 462016, Madhya Pradesh. The voter ID cards of Pawan Agarwal, Ramesh Chand Agarwal, and Namita Agarwal are issued at the same address.

Sanjiv Mohan Gupta serves as Chairman and Managing Director of Jagran Entertainment Media Pvt Ltd. He is the Director of Dainik Jagran MP editions.
According to the leaks, Sanjiv and Sapna are directors and shareholders in a company called Venus Business Holdings Pte Ltd.
However, their address of residence - as mentioned in the Panama Papers leaks - is a government-allotted bungalow that is currently occupied by a person named Madan Mohan Gupta - believed to be a BJP leader.
When contacted, Madan Mohan Gupta said that Sanjiv Mohan Gupta and Sapna Gupta do not reside there. He said that the bungalow is allotted in his name and that he has not registered the address in any company.
