Official figures remain 5 as dengue claims 15 lives in Delhi

Dengue continues to play havoc in Delhi. According to recent media reports, 15 people have succumbed to the disease till now. A 41-year-old woman from south Delhi's Lajpat Nagar and a seven-year-old boy succumbed to the disease on 17 September. However, the official figure, remains five.

There are also unconfirmed reports of the death of a 15-month-old girl, who died due to complications arising out of dengue at Safdarjung Hospital here on 1 September. The child reportedly died of dengue shock syndrome leading to multi-organ failure.

Data released by the three civic corporations - North, South and East Delhi Municipal Corporations - on 14 September said that till 12 September, the number of deaths due to dengue in the city was five, and the number of cases was 1,872.
