PM Narendra Modi on Friday, announced Nirmala Sitharaman as the Finance minister of India. She was previously the defence minister of India in Modi's first cabinet. She also becomes the first female Finance minister of India, like what she became first female defence minister of India.

However, she is not technically first as earlier Indira Gandhi was the first finance minister of India who held the portfolio for July 1969 to June 1970. Well, there is one thing that should be considered that Indira Gandhi was not a full-time Finance minister as she held the portfolio as being a PM of India. While Nirmala Sitharaman holds the portfolio for the full-time minister.

This is maybe luck or by chance that Nirmala Sitharaman is on the race to break Indira Gandhi records. As she also became the first female defence minister like Indira Gandhi, but as Indira Gandhi was the PM, she was not full-time Defence minister.

Let us tell you that after a landslide victory in the 17th Lok Sabha Elections, Narendra Modi on Thursday took oath as PM of India for the second time. Alongside Modi, over 50 ministers were also sworn-in at a grand ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The union cabinet for the 17th Lok Sabha has 24 cabinet ministers, 9 ministers of state with independent charge and 24 ministers of State (MoS).
