Doordarshan's popular weekly show on - Janne ka Haq - the only Right to Information (RTI)-programme is back on the channel. An episode was aired on 12 September and repeated on 13 September, as per the usual schedule.

While speaking to Catch, Ashok Shrivastava, the anchor of the show said, "The show was never taken down from the channel. However, it was discontinued for two weeks to provide space for a special programme on the Bihar elections."

Shrivastava added that this was nothing new and many channels consider rescheduling their shows to accommodate special packages. He also said that the show will continue according to its usual timings from now on.

However, Shrivastava didn't deny speculations around restructuring the show.

Janne ka Haq has been successfully on air since 2006. It was launched in January 2006, three months after the RTI Act was enforced on October 2, 2005 and will complete its 10th anniversary next year. The weekly show is telecasted at 6.30 pm on Saturday and 10.30 am on Sunday.

The show reportedly has a massive following, especially in rural regions and small towns as it deals with transparency issues.

Catch had earlier reported that the show has been taken down, as alleged by RTI activists. The activists, including Shailesh Gandhi, had claimed that the ban was ordered by higher authorities in the government.

Over the years, the show has highlighted RTI successes and failures, spreading awareness among the masses about approaching important issues which fall under the purview of RTI, coupled with detailed panel discussions with legal experts and RTI activists.
